I never did well in school. I tried my very best to get as many A’s in elementary school, but the best report card I brought home was for my 4th quarter in 8th grade… A’s with one (ONE) B. #sadface
Don’t even get me started with high school (didn’t give 2 kicks about it)… or just how long it took me to complete college.
However, when I was a high school Junior, I started thinking about how the people around me could’ve better encouraged and supported me with school… and promised myself to do differently with my own child.
And look! My son graduated high school as Valedictorian and simultaneously earned his Associates Degree – Summa Cum Laude. He starts college in the fall as a Junior.
Proof that regardless of your past or your mistakes, history does NOT have to repeat itself.
Anyway… I went to a Pre-Med workshop with J this afternoon and I found it immensely reassuring and exciting. There was nothing (NOTHING) my kid hadn’t already researched or prepared for, regards to J’s path to becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. It was just sooo reassuring to get confirmation that J’s headed in the right direction with the right tools and mindset!
Pre-Med. This is real life, bruh! No longer just a dream, but a carefully thought out path my son has began walking on!
I’m so proud of my boy for constantly crushing EVERYTHING he sets out to do (because he’s just so amazingly awesome and sweet and adorable)… and pretty proud of myself too for helping my son in ways I couldn’t help myself.
Heck, who knows what *I* would’ve done with my life if I had this kind of support, conditioning, and mindset… I probably would’ve become a brain surgeon! Lol… or not. I like what I’ve become. 🙂
P.S. Lemme know what you think!
